WHO WE ARE
In 2021, we tragically lost Leland, while vacationing, to a drowning accident. She was an energetic two-year-old who loved the ocean and the lake near our home. We had plans to start her in swimming school upon returning from vacation but sadly never had the opportunity. Out of this unbearable loss, we want to help prevent this tragedy for others and honor the memory of our sweet girl.
Leland’s Legacy is a non-profit organization. Our mission is to help North Georgia by raising awareness on water safety by means of providing education, safe swimming gear, and funding safety classes for local families.
Our mission requires the support of others. Please help us reduce the incident of drowning by donating and/or supporting an upcoming event.
WHAT WE DO
-
SWIM LESSONS
DonateWorking with serval swim instructors in the North Georgia area to sponsor swimming survival skills for local families and their children
Donations play a crucial role in enabling our non-profit to make these survival swim lessons accessible to children and their families who might not otherwise be able to afford them. Ensuring that all children have the opportunity to learn these essential life skills. -
LIFE JACKETS
PurchaseProviding free life jackets at several drop locations on Lake Lanier for inexperienced swimmers.
The proper life jacket provides buoyancy support to help keep a child's head above water, even if they are unconscious or in distress, preventing drowning. They also provide non-swimmer safety, visibility from boats and rescuers in emergency situations, encourage safe habits and provide peace of mind for parents. -
SAFETY EDUCATION
How to HelpProvide accessible information and resources to help prevent and reduce accidental drownings.
Educating others on the importance of life-saving skills, increased awareness, risk identification and preventative measures can help reduce the occurrence of accidental drownings. Be apart of the change to and help us make a difference for even just 1 child.
